Fall is finally here, which means we can cool off, cozy up, and enjoy the season of knit sweaters, vibrant leaves, and hot coffee. It is the brisk air that makes us want to wrap ourselves in a blanket by the fireplace, wake up with cup of rich coffee in bed, and have friends and family over for warm, home cooked meals.
Our summer adventures of sailing and sunning have head indoors and evolved into dinner parties and game nights. We throw on our best tall leather boots or fleece moccasins for warm moments centered around our beautiful homes, and beautiful rugs. Whether we're entertaining for a fall harvest, having family over for Thanksgiving dinner, or just have a sweet tooth, these five desserts have autumn written all over them.

What is a Bellwether? And more importantly, why did we choose the name to represent our company? In an attempt to answer these questions, let's break down the different definitions of the word:
Bellwether, noun. |bell•we•ther|
Like the bellwether that leads the flock, our customers exemplify the values of trendsetting and individualism. You are one-of-a-kind, and we believe your home's interior design should be, too. High quality, distinct, and thoughtfully selected from different corners of the globe, our rugs are the perfect tool for you to conveniently bring beauty and charm to your home at the perfect price.
Which brings us to our personal Bellwether definition:
[No. 3] A bold rug made of soft sheep's wool with a social mission that gives back to its roots.
When we rolled out our very first oushak rug as college roommates, we discovered the energy a rug can bring to a home firsthand. In a long and tedious search to find our “perfect” rug, we found a passion for the industry and a vision to make the rug-buying process honest and approachable. We're excited to bring our fantastically curated selections and do-good attitude right to your doorstep!

Starting a business is daunting. The to-do list balloons just as you try to navigate your first missteps, and everything seems to need attention all at once. But on the other hand, starting a business is inspiring, incredibly rewarding, and possibly even life-changing. There's opportunity on the horizon, pep in our step, and our minds are full of ideas...and rugs!
We found Brick+Mortar on Instagram and fell in love with the aesthetic. Maps, leather couches, taxidermy, and nostalgia? This place was for us. Our first Bellwether photoshoot took place at this vintage honey hole, and we were lucky enough to have the talented, humble, huge hearted (I could go on...) photographer Sarah Dorio snap our first shots.
Sunday morning, before the shop opened and the West Egg brunch crowd rolled in, we styled our Bellwethers among anything and everything in the shop. Church pews, oil portraits, craftsman desks, mid-century chairs, luggage, brass, whatever called our name. David's curated collection made it pretty easy. As the morning sunlight streamed in, I held reflectors to bounce the light back on our vignettes so Sarah could capture the perfect shot. The outcome? Well, check it out. Bellwethers, beautiful light, and a great vibe—we couldn't ask for more.
As two gals from the tech world, we must admit, we knew nothing about photoshoots. But David & Sarah's generosity, mixed with their patience, flair, and creativity, was the perfect introduction we needed. Atlanta, you've baffled us with the kindness of your creative community. We can't wait for Bellwether to take part!
Cheers to new friends!

In a world where we strive to be bigger, faster, and stronger than the next greatest thing, we still can’t shake the appeal of the handmade. Sure, it takes more time to hand-knot each inch of a rug, but the final product exudes craftsmanship, beauty, and can transcend generations. There is just something alluring about the tangible heritage of a handmade rug. At Bellwether, we are following our noses and hearts into handmade rugs. We have a hunch you might want to follow along!
Twice a year, Atlanta transforms into a rug and interior design mecca. AmericasMart is an entrancing convention of the best designers, decorators, and manufacturers in the interior design world. Exhibitors captivate their audiences with displays of brilliant pillows and elegant rugs. Buyers travel from both coasts to peruse the latest designs, carefully selecting items for their projects back home. The decorators and designers at AmericasMart are two years ahead of the rest of us—already looking beyond the next trend.
We had the great fortune of meeting so many new friends as we walked the showrooms and drooled over beautiful textiles and decor. Sarah Stroh from Rug News and Design displayed her amazing spread of photos after her last trip spotlighting the rug making industry in India. South Africa’s Lifestyle Hubthrew a rager complete with s’mores, lemurs, and our newfound Bellwether mascot, Beni. We met Josh and Odini from Res Ipsa, and we can’t wait for their chukka boots and loafers to take the well-dressed world by storm! We’re jonesing for our own pair (or 5). Oh, and we stuffed ourselves atRumi’s Kitchen. Have you been? No? Go!
